March 10 Nature Photography with a Smartphone Camera

A hearty group of photography enthusiasts met at the Park Sunday the 10th to learn how to maximize the features of smartphone cameras.  We learned about the “rule of thirds” for setting up a landscape photo, and how to put grid lines on our phone cameras in settings. We practiced using iPhone “portrait” mode with our professional photographer guide, Alison Wachstein. It was exciting to learn how much more tinkering you can do in this mode than in “photo” mode. She helped us set up an inviting scene with a unique feature on an old tree, and showed us how to get best facial features and lighting.  Last, we went down to the beach to practice snapping close-ups of pebbles and shells.
