Accomplishments of the Friends’ Garden Team include:
Planted 2,400 stems of American Beach grass in the dunes on April 2 and 3 this year, in addition to the 3,600 stems planted over Thanksgiving in 2020.
Got a grant from OneTreePlanted for $1500 to buy 125 native trees & shrubs, which will be planted on April 23 and 24 – help appreciated! Contact michelemsorensen@gmail.com to sign up.
Pamela Nobumoto, one of our UConn Master Gardener volunteers, did the legwork to obtain the grant.
Cleared vines from the dunes in front of the West Beach bath house, working for four sessions with 8 people, 64 man-hours of hard work!
Twelve hours was donated by FOSI Boarad member Chris Swan to repair and replace split rails and framing for the sign at our Three Sisters Garden.
