Sherwood Island State Park is the only state park in Connecticut with an active model airplane airfield. The paved runways are located in the northeast section of the park, easily visible between the parking lots and the salt marsh. Many days, you can watch as model airplane owners pilot their craft into the sky and send them looping and banking through maneuvers.

Use of the airfield is by permit only. Interested in becoming a builder and pilot? The Country Squire Modelers of Norwalk, CT has been flying at Sherwood Island State Park since the 1960’s. They also maintain the field.
