Project Limulus at the Nature Center

Two students from Sacred Heart University’s Project Limulus taught us about Horseshoe crab biology on the Nature Center porch on June 19.  Then we all walked to the beach where we found and tagged this large female crab. The dark brown markings above her tail are from the male hanging on while spawning. Kaz Nobumoto demonstrates how to hold the crab like a bowl.  If you find a crab with a tag, take a photo of the tag and report it using the website listed.
