The Nature Center is now OPEN! Wed-Sun, 10-4
The Nature Center and its programs are free (park entrance fees may apply). (If interested in scheduling a private program for 2015, contact Nick via email below.)
The Center has live animals, activities and programs, as well as displays about the area’s history, both human and environmental. There are lectures and family events as well.
This season, a new event will occur EVERY DAY at 1PM! The Nature Center will be leading either Nature Walks, Seine Netting, or Special programs! For details on special events, see the Calendar or the “Sherwood Island Nature Center” Facebook!
In addition, the Nature Center features a Themed Week throughout the summer. Stop by at any time during our normal hours (10am-4pm) for great arts, crafts, and educational worksheets that correlate with our theme of the week!
Visit this site often to check for upcoming events. Scroll through the slide show below to see what we are all about.

2010 First Anniversary of the Nature Center
On the evening of June 12, 2010 the Friends hosted a party to celebrate the first anniversary of park’s Nature Center. After getting acquainted with the wildlife in the Center, families gathered to see live birds of prey from A Place Called Hope, the raptor rehabilitation and education center in Killingworth CT.
