The Sherwood Island Nature Center is Open Weekends Starting May 18!
From June 27 through Labor Day, the Center will be open Wednesdays-Sundays . The Nature Center and its programs are free (park entrance fees may apply). If interested in scheduling a private program for Spring 2013, please read on…
The Center has live animals, activities and programs, as well as displays about the area’s history, both human and environmental. There are lectures and family events as well. Visit this site often to check for upcomng events. Scroll through the 2012 slide show below to see what we are all about.
Private programs are available for schools, camps, scouts, birthday parties, and family reunions from midMay through midSeptember. For more information about program offerings at the Center or at your site, please click here to see the Programs Offerings flier [pdf]. We are now taking reservations for 2013 so make sure to complete and submit the Program Reservation Request Form [pdf] as soon as you can!

2010 First Anniversary of the Nature Center
On the evening of June 12, 2010 the Friends hosted a party to celebrate the first anniversary of park’s Nature Center. After getting acquainted with the wildlife in the Center, families gathered to see live birds of prey from A Place Called Hope, the raptor rehabilitation and education center in Killingworth CT.
