Sunset Lecture Series features Larry Fischer: In the Eye of an Eagle
Nature Center, East Beach
event is free/free parking after 6pm
Has the bald eagle population in CT made it back to acceptable levels since the days of DDT in the 1940’s?
Come learn about the reappearance of wintering eagles in the 1970’s and the current status of bald eagles breeding in CT since the first successful nest in 1992. See a photo essay “Climbing to an Eagle Nest” which describes what it is like to climb some of CT’s largest trees to come eye to eye with eaglets in their aerie. Why is there bird banding and what do we learn from this program? Come and find out from this interesting environmental speaker Larry Fischer, a licensed raptor bander who has been climbing to raptor nests for more than 30 years to band the nestlings.
6:00pm refreshments; 6:15pm lecture
