Nature Center, East Beach
event is free/free parking after 6pm

The recreational sport of kayaking has become very popular in recent years especially in coastal communities such as Westport.

Come and hear all the details and ask questions on kayaking the area between Long Neck Point in Darien to Sherwood Point in Westport including local rivers, coast and islands off-shore. Information on kayak safety and island nesting birds will also be discussed. David Park is author of “Kayaking in and around the Norwalk Islands”. This local, niche guidebook has sold over 800 copies, includes color photos, and will be available for $10  and can be signed  by the author following the lecture.

David Park grew up in the town of Weston and has lived in East Norwalk for the past 27 years. He is retired and devotes his time to public service including past-chairman of the Norwalk Historical Commission, board member of the Norwalk River Watershed Association, the 5-town Norwalk River Valley Trail Steering Committee and board secretary of the East Norwalk Library.

David joined the board of the Norwalk River Watershed Association several years ago because of his concern for the water quality of Long Island Sound and wildlife of the Norwalk Islands.

He has been a canoeist all his life, an avid kayaker of local waters for the past 15 years and produced and printed his guidebook in late 2009. In addition, he has been documenting the local active Osprey nests for the past 13 years.
