Friends of Sherwood Island Garden Team

You can support the Friends of Sherwood Island Garden Team on GIVING DAY via this link:

In 2017 the Friends of Sherwood Island SP formed the Friends’ Garden Team to restore dune habitat, create and curate more pollinator-friendly habitat, and to ensure that new plantings in the park would be natives that improve habitat for birds, butterflies, bees, mammals and other wildlife. When you visit Sherwood Island State Park, be sure to notice the dune restoration area roped off in the East Beach, the new Bayberry plants in the 911 Memorial Garden at the point, and stop by to see our two gardens at the Nature Center: the 2010 Three Sisters Garden with a focus on traditional Native American plants, and our new Pollinator Garden meadow. We offer bird, butterfly and tree walks several times throughout the year to introduce visitors to the richness of our 235 acre park. Three hundred eleven bird species and over two dozen butterfly species are documented on eBird and iNaturalist. Be part of the native landscapes renaissance and join our group! Look for Garden Team volunteers in yellow vests and ask about our work. Read about our 100 Trees for 100 Years Tree Campaign on our website.
