Dan Woog's essential 06880--Where Westport Meets the World talked about Sherwood Island's new entry fees, or lack thereof: Overlooked in the blizzard of news following the passage of our state’s last-in-the-nation budget is this: Starting January 1, Connecticut residents will no longer pay for admission to 24 state parks and 3 state forests.   As Dan says,   Sherwood Island — the often-overlooked 232-acre gem right inside our borders — might get a few more town visitors.   Click the link below to read the whole article: The Mac & Chili Challenge is a fundraiser where you're a judge.  When you arrive you'll be given a spoon, ballot and pencil.  Then you enjoy unlimited sampling of over 20 different mac's and chili's rating them on a scale from 7 to 10.5.  The entrees with the highest average rating in our four cateogories (Classic Beef, Creative Chili, Classic Mac and Creative Mac) will be named a champion. Enjoy unlimited sampling of  20 different chili's and mac 'n cheese entries from great local restaurants.  Your vote will determines the best in four categories:  Beef Chili, Creative Chili and Classic Mac 'n Cheese and Creative Mac!.  Tickets are just $15 adults, $5 kids (6-12) can be bought online or at the door (cash or credit).   Circle the date on your calendar!
