Friends of Sherwood Island went to the Legislative Office Building in Hartford to attend the 2017 State Parks Day, which was held on April 5 this year, to thank our legislators for supporting the Connecticut State Park system and Sherwood Island State Park. Saturday, April 22 10:00 am - 12:00 pm Earth Day Disc Golf Clinic/Demo with Chris Scofield (2015 Park City Open Champion) at Sherwood Island State Park Saturday, April 22nd from 10 a.m. until 12 p.m.    Join professional disc golfer and FOSI board member Chris Scofield at the newly installed disc golf course at Sherwood Island Sate Park, as he teaches the basics of the exciting and rapidly growing sport of disc golf.  You will learn proper techniques, as well as the fundamentals of the game. There will be live demos by Chris himself, and an opportunity to play! All ages and skill levels are welcome.  The clinic is free of charge and a limited number of discs will be provided to participants for use at the clinic only.  The clinic will start at the pavilion and then move to the course. What is disc golf? Disc golf, also known as frisbee golf, is a flying disc game, as well as a precision and accuracy sport, in which individual players throw a flying disc at a target. The object of the game is to traverse a course from beginning to end in the fewest number of throws of the disc. The game is played in about 40 countries around the world.
